Who are we?
We’re Eureka! The National Children’s Museum – an award-winning, playful attraction and educational charity based in Halifax, West Yorkshire. In our museum you’ll find more than 400 interactive exhibits designed to inspire children to learn about themselves and the world around them using their imagination, play and discovery. We opened in 1992, so we’re celebrating our 20th birthday this year. Happy birthday to us!
What is Play 20?
As part of our birthday celebrations we’ve launched the Play 20 campaign, aiming to get more adults and children playing together. We know how busy your lives are – ours are too! – but we also know how easy and beneficial incorporating play into every day can be. After all, we’ve been doing it for 20 years.
Just to prove the point we asked parents and guardians how often they were able to play, and 80% said that they found themselves making excuses not to play with their children, and almost half (49%) said that household chores such as cooking and cleaning got in the way of playtime. Our answer? Turn the household chores INTO playtime – Just have a read of our easy ideas to find out how.
Anytime can be playtime, and the great thing is it doesn’t have to include expensive toys or games. So go on, embrace your playful side!
