Special schools

We’re proud to be inclusive

and that includes our educational shows and workshops!

We know it can be difficult to manage a trip for SEN schools so to make it as stress-free as possible we offer:

  • Specially adapted educational workshops to suit your children’s access needs
  • An accessible Changing Places toilet with hoist
  • Ear defenders for loan
  • A Chill Out room
  • Signed interpretation for many exhibits
  • The Eureka! Story – a free downloadable resource to help prepare your children prior to visit
  • Essential carers visit for free
  • Our helpful and specially trained Enablers

We combine education with enjoyment, resulting in effective learning and lasting memories. An educational trip here is an inclusive, hands-on, fun-packed day that children will never forget.

Choose from a self-guided gallery visit, or talk to us about your pupils’ requirements and we’ll adapt our Early Years  or Primary workshops as needed, or we can offer our interactive sensory story sessions if you’d prefer.

Gallery visits – £6 per child

Guided by you, students get hands-on and explore the museum. You get a focused hour in one of our galleries followed by an hour to explore the rest of the museum. A great opportunity to let imaginations roam free.

Combined workshop/gallery visit – £7.25 per child

Gallery time plus an adapted workshop or sensory story session, delivered by a Eureka! Enabler (our amazing, fully trained museum team). Your group also get an hour to explore the museum from top to bottom! A great opportunity to let imaginations roam free.

Sensory Stories

Your pupils will love our interactive tales, all complimented with sensory activities and delivered by our trained Enablers. Ideal for Early Years or children with Special Educational Needs or complex disabilities. Choose from: Bear Hunt, The Gruffalo’s Child, Rainbow Fish and Room on the Broom
