Our popular workshops are delivered by two expert Enablers and sessions can be presented to 70 pupils at a time, four times a day, each lasting around 45 minutes. Available Monday to Friday during term-time. Our outreach science shows are ideal for inspiring inquisitive minds, all in the comfort of your school hall!
Choose from a range of interactive science workshops on a range of topics that enhance the curriculum or fit in with a school event.
The Gross Lab – KS1 and KS2 (45mins)
Explore the ‘ickier’ (but very important) side of the human body. Look at what happens when you cut yourself, find out what saliva is for, why we burp (and poop) and help us to make fake poo, snot and sick!
From the Chew to the Poo! – KS2 only (45 mins)
Learn about the digestive system through the journey of a banana and peanut butter sandwich and discover how important vitamins are to our health.
Blast from the Past – KS1 & KS2 (1 hour)
Travel back through time to meet public health professionals from the past to discover how they treated irksome illnesses and catastrophic conditions. Meet our friendly Egyptian, Roman, Tudor and Victorian medics and hear fascinating (and yucky) stories, also exploring how some treatments from the past are now being used in modern medicine.
H2O– KS1 and KS2 (45mins)
An environmental workshop packed full of hands-on demonstrations and audience participation. As well as showing children just how fun water can be, pupils get an understanding of the scientific properties of water, the water cycle and how every species on Earth depends upon it for life.
