May 2011 Update

'We hope that others will join us in supporting Eureka! This excellent museum with a strong track record does exceptional work and provides an excellent opportunity for children to engage with science and medicine through learning, interaction and play'. Clare Matterson, Director of Medical Humanities and Engagement at the Wellcome Trust.

Making Sense of the WorldThanks to £1.45m funding support from The Wellcome Trust plus a further £700,000 from a collection of smaller trusts, Eureka! is now well on the way to seeing its vision for the redevelopment of the iconic Me & My Body gallery realised.

Over the past 19 years Me & My Body has enthralled generations of young children who have learned and explored fascinating facts about their bodies, and how they work, through one of the most interactive galleries in the children’s museum sector.

Our vision for a new £2.9m gallery is part of a wider £15m masterplan for Eureka! and marks and exciting next stage in our development.

Move It Shake ItScheduled to open in Early 2013, the new Me & My Body gallery is designed to retain its status as a ‘must see, must experience’ destination. Exhibits will feature fully interactive areas that give children the chance to fully immerse themselves in a wide range of learning activities. Key themes include: The Brain, The Digestive System, the mechanics of the body, a fully interactive health centre and a science garden.

To help us deliver this project on time we need to continue securing vital support for the remaining £700,000. This is the perfect chance for companies to make a lasting legacy on a whole new generation of young people by helping bring alive this amazing new gallery.
