The July Project The programme for The July Project – Calderdale’s Festival for Children and Young People – has been announced. Sponsored by Halifax for the second year, the festival organisers, Square Chapel Centre for the Arts and Eureka! The Museum for Children, have been joined by Calderdale Council to offer over 100 events from 1-13 July at venues across the borough. 29 July 2008

Anne Fine to open The July Project Fans of Mrs Doubtfire are in for a treat next month when author of the much-loved children’s comedy will appear at Square Chapel in Halifax to give a reading and answer questions. Anne Fine will appear at the arts centre on Tuesday 1 July to open The July Project – West Yorkshire’s newest major festival for children and young people– which runs from 1-13 July. 29 July 2008

Story Seekers Step into the magical world of children’s literature with Story Seekers at Eureka! this May. From Saturday 24 May to Sunday 1 June the children’s museum in Halifax, West Yorkshire will be celebrating every aspect of children’s literature with interactive performances, arts and crafts and storytelling. 29 July 2008

Early Years Fiesta Getting children excited about reading and writing can often be difficult against the growing competition from other forms of media. Recognising this difficulty, staff at Eureka! in Halifax, West Yorkshire have created the Early Years Fiesta, an event for nursery groups which aims to help the under-5s develop their literacy skills through play. 29 July 2008

A Smaller Footprint for Eureka! Eureka! and green consultancy EnviroFutures are working together to improve environmental performance at the national children’s museum in Halifax. As the museum’s Official Sustainability Partner, the Sheffield-based consultancy will work with Eureka! on a range of measures to help reduce the museum’s environmental impact and carbon footprint. 18 April 2008
