Eureka! Summer Circus

Roll up, roll up, the circus is coming to Eureka!. Yes, ladies and gents, boys and girls, this summer from Saturday 19 July, visitors to the children’s museum in Halifax, West Yorkshire will be able to practice exciting circus skills, from clowning to stilt walking. And for the whole month of August experience the thrill of a real live circus, complete with a ‘little’ big top and a troupe of brave, bold, danger-defying performing artistes.

Visit the Eureka! Summer Circus in July to enjoy awe-inspiring, hands-on workshops with Circus Sensible, the UK’s smallest circus troupe. Families will have the chance to learn a variety of skills such as juggling, poi, stilt walking, plate spinning and diabolo. Join Circus Sensible at regular intervals on Saturday 19, Sunday 20, Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 July.

Clowning around at Eureka! Summer Circus

Or visit in August when Fred’s Flying Circus will be resident at Eureka! every day. Families will witness all manner of thrilling performances, from unicycle to slackrope in daily shows and workshops led by Fred and his troupe. Fred’s Flying Circus has been touring the world since 1990, visiting different locations from London to Las Vegas, and now – for the very first time – Halifax.

Make people laugh and clown around in clowning workshops every weekday throughout the school holidays. With guidance from the Eureka! Ringmaster kids will have great fun painting their own unique clown face, choosing a wacky costume, learning hilarious moves and finally putting on a show to friends and family.

As well as plenty of family circus fun, there will also be seaside-style entertainment all summer long on the Eureka! inland beach, which is open once again after its successful debut in 2007. Children will be able to play on the golden sand, build sandcastles or simply chill out in a deck chair. With the Summer Circus, the inland beach and the hundreds of hands-on museum exhibits, Eureka! has plenty to offer this summer, whatever the weather.
