Our Global Garden

Our planet is a big place, but in this gallery you’ll travel the world, from the arctic to the jungle. Take a tour of earth’s many different environments where you’ll meet different animals large and small, build an igloo or make the wind blow.

SoundSpace

SoundSpace galleryTake a trip in a musical spaceship, mix a tune on a sampling wall of sound, experiment with lights and special effects or become a stage director for the day. Orby the Alien will be your guide in this futuristic gallery dedicated to the story of sound.

Through creative activities, children will discover how sound is produced and how it can be changed to produce music. Content includes sources of sound and how they are detected.

Through creative activities, children will discover how sound is produced and how it travels through different media. Content includes vibration, volume, pitch, instruments and composition.

Living & Working Together

The House & The Garage

Children can get behind the scenes in a life-sized House and Garage and take part in creative roleplay opportunities to discover how things work in the adult world.

The Shop & The Bank

The Shop, which had a brand new make-over in 2007, and The Bank in the Town Square provide real life scenarios for children to explore. These include buying food items in the shop with money drawn from the bank and working as a cashier, a manager or a security officer.

Themes for KS1

Use modern technology and maths in a realistic setting to learn about banking (money exchange, security) and shopping (where food comes from, cost and packaging).

Explore the world of work; use maths in a contextual setting to count, weigh, measure, estimate and compare.

The Eureka! Park

Eureka! values outdoor play and the outdoor park has a range of play and active learning opportunities:

The PlayScape

The PlayScape inspires a range of play and active learning situations, creating opportunities for collaboration and developing a variety of physical and social skills. The innovative setting comprises built structures and natural materials, creating a visual impact with unexpected surprises.

Outdoor Activity Boxes

Activities and props to encourage individual skills, group dynamics and creative play outside. Available every term apart from December, January and February.

Giant Sand Pit

The natural tactile qualities of the giant sand pit at Eureka! make it ideal for play-based and active learning.

How do Eureka!'s galleries enhance learning for different ages?

Years 1 and 2

Children can build upon the knowledge and skills-based progress which they have made, whilst also learning how to work alongside each other. They can initiate their own play and follow planned sessions.

Years 3 and 4

Giving children a greater sense of responsibility is really important at Eureka!. We continue to build upon the knowledge and skills they have learnt in KS1 and encourage greater independence in subtle ways.

Years 5 and 6

Children will have many opportunities to grow in independence and to seek out and accept greater responsibility for their learning.
