Eureka! Nursery awarded “Outstanding” rating by Ofsted

We're outstanding"Following an unannounced inspection on October 5 2011, Ofsted, the government inspectors for early years and schools, awarded the Eureka! Nursery an “outstanding” rating across all areas of its nursery provision for children. This is a huge accolade for the nursery which is privately run by Eureka! The National Children’s Museum in Halifax.

Established in 2003, the Eureka! Nursery employs 18 staff and is registered to accommodate 97 children.

In its assessment of the nursery, Ofsted inspectors drew attention to the dedication of the Eureka! nursery staff and the stimulating environment created for children in their care: ‘Children flourish in the stimulating environment and make excellent progress in their learning and development. The highly effective staff team are completely dedicated to inspiring children within excellent surroundings.’

Ofsted inspectors also paid tribute to the organisation, setting and unique location of the nursery which is housed in a modern conservatory style building on the former Platform 3 of Halifax station: ‘The day-to-day organisation of the setting is excellent. The unique layout of the rooms enriches children's lives and subsequently, they thrive in a highly stimulating environment.’

The nursery’s ability to cater for the individual needs and interests of the young people in its care was also noted by the Ofsted inspection team who declared: ‘Children blossom in this outstanding provision where their individual needs, interests and abilities are truly catered for.’

Commenting on Ofsted’s unequivocal praise for the nursery, Eureka! nursery manager Sandra Thompson said: “We are absolutely delighted with the outcome. All the staff are dedicated to ensure that outcomes for children and families are of the highest standard, and this has been evidenced in the inspection.”

Commenting on the outstanding Ofsted commendation, Eureka! Chief Executive Leigh-Anne Stradeski said: ”We are committed to excellence and modelling best practice in all that we do at Eureka! The Ofsted inspection confirms that we are providing outstanding care and early learning opportunities for the children who attend Eureka! Nursery. I am extremely proud of the management and staff of the nursery whose professionalism, expertise and commitment to the children has been officially recognised through the results of this inspection.”
