Follow the yellow brick road to half-term adventure at Eureka!

Set off to see the wizard this February half-term when The Wizard of Oz arrives at Eureka! The National Children’s Museum every day from Monday 21 – Friday 25 February.

The Wizard of Oz skips down the Eureka! Yellow Brick Road this February half termEvery day during half-term families can enjoy fun themed crafts, challenges for all ages, amazing science tricks and the chance to meet the characters from the Wizard of Oz.

In the Eureka! Theatre, take part in the Emerald City challenge. Children can follow an obstacle course through the Land of Oz, where they will have to solve puzzles that test their courage, heart and minds. In the Creativity Space, younger children can enjoy rainbow-themed activities designed especially for them.

Families will be able to make and take home fun Wizard of Oz crafts. Children can join with other visitors to decorate bricks for a giant Yellow Brick Road that will be displayed in the museum.

Around the museum, Eureka! Enablers will be on hand to demonstrate hands-on ‘Wizard’ science tricks including learning how to make a ‘witch’ melt and disappear, creating a tornado and making a rainbow. Enablers will also be available in costume at set times during the day to play with children and for photographs. Visitors can find out more details about events on the day at the Information Desk.

On weekends during February visitors can also enjoy Wallace and Gromit Invention Sessions. Families can work together to learn to make a motorised steam chair from an exclusive Invention Kit created by Aardman Animation. Due to small parts, the Invention Sessions are not suitable for children under the age of 7.
